The northern part of the federal state Bavaria is called Franconia, by far the biggest city within this area is Nuremberg. Other interesting places are. Bamberg, Wurzburg, Rothenburg and Dinkelsbuehl. Rolling hills, farmland, and lovely valleys and historic towns are characteristic for this rural area. "Romantic Franconia" (that's the official slogan) is also famous for it's brews (more than 300 breweries), wines (great white wines grown along the rivers Main and Tauber) and the traditional food, and yes, the German "Bratwurst" has it's origin here - a paradise if you are not on a diet.
